From my perspective this problem is solved with switching <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ethereum.org\/2021\/05\/18\/country-power-no-more\/\">from \u201cProof-of-Work\u201d to \u201cProof-of-Stake\u201d<\/a>; although Bitcoin will continue with \u201cProof-ofWork\u201d &#8211; maybe even there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/climate-killer-bitcoin-antonius-gress\/?trackingId=G3Lalq9QTuiiFW1xtgtQbw%3D%3D\">some interesting Bitcoin climate options<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crypto technology and organizations promise or already offer:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>transparent public ledgers for trust building<\/li><li>International payment and trading systems<\/li><li>Independent institutions from national authorities organized in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Decentralized_autonomous_organization\">Decentralized Autonomous Organization<\/a> (DAO)<\/li><li>Smart contracts build on open source<\/li><li>Highest innovation speed based on thousands of talented enthusiasts<\/li><li>Evolution of today\u2019s decentralized finance into regenerative finance<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>and will therefore be relevant for the CO2 removal market. Both the crypto technology (see unofficial state-of-the-art <a href=\"https:\/\/messari.io\/pdf\/messari-report-crypto-theses-for-2022.pdf\">messari report<\/a>) and the CO2 Removal market are in early innovation phases. I dived deeper into both rabbit holes and captured three possible benefits of crypto technology for the CO2 Removal market:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Keeping records of CO2 removals in <strong>digital ledgers <\/strong>in order to report and auditing CO2 removal activities.<\/li><li>Using <strong>Non-Fungible Tokens<\/strong> (NFT) to capture a CO2 removal activity<\/li><li>Using <strong>CO2 crypto tokens <\/strong>to trade CO2 removals independent of national currencies&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The real revolution behind crypto and web 3.0 is its new approach of highly motivated people to collaborate fast and intensely: <a href=\"https:\/\/future.a16z.com\/the-future-of-work-daos-crypto-networks\/\">Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But on the down-side, both rabbit holes share a major communication problem: It is impossible to understand what is going on here without learning the special tribal language and concepts.
